الضمير هو كلمة تستخدم بدلاً من الاسم.
على سبيل المثال، يمكنك أن تقول «Lisa is a nice girl» : . ثم يمكنك استبدال الاسم "Lisa" بكلمة "She" والحصول على الجملة التالية: "She is a nice girl". "She" ضمير.

Objective pronouns
ضمائر المفعول به
تستعمل ضمائر المفعول به بدلا من الاسم الذي يمثل المفعول به في الجملة ، أي من وقع عليه الفعل ، وهي :

ضمائر الاشارة
Demonstrative"" تعني "إظهار ، تقديم شيء واضح".
ضمير الاشارة هو ضمير يستخدم للإشارة إلى شيء محدد داخل الجملة. يمكن أن تشير هذه الضمائر إلى العناصر في المكان أو الزمان ، ويمكن أن تكون مفردة أو صيغة الجمع.
ضمائر الإشارة هي.those ,these ,that ,this :
نستخدم "this" و"these" للحديث عن الأشياء القريبة في المكان أو الزمان.

Interrogative Pronouns
ضمائر الاستفهام
ضمائر الاستفهام (Interrogative Pronouns) تستخدم لطرح الأسئلة.
.which و what, whose, whom, who : هي في اللغة الانجليزية ضمائر الاستفهام
يظهر ضمير الاستفهام عادة في بداية السؤال، لكنه يمكن أن يظهر في المنتصف أو في النهاية، اعتمادًا على الصياغة. يمكن أن يتضمن السؤال أيضًا عدة ضمائر استفهام.
في اللغة الإنجليزية، تتبع صياغة الأسئلة الصيغة التالية:

Example : Who did you see yesterday at the party?

الضمائر النسبية هي ضمائر تربط بين أجزاء مختلفة من الجملة.

Reciprocal Pronouns
الضمائر التبادلية
تعني الضمائر التبادلية أن شخصين أو مجموعة يفعلون الشيء نفسه مع بعضهم البعض. يعاملون بعضهم البعض بنفس الطريقة.
على سبيل المثال، Joe loves Kate, and Kate loves Joe. لذلك يمكننا أن نقول، " Kate and Joe love each other.""
هناك نوعان من الضمائر المتبادلة في اللغة الإنجليزية:
Each other and one another. Peter and Mary helped one another.
= Peter helped Mary and Mary helped Peter.
• We sent each other Christmas cards.
= We sent them a Christmas card and they sent us a Christmas card.
• They didn’t look at one another.
= He didn't look at her and she didn't look at him.
